The introduction and the concept of the project
This project i Disaster Preparedness. The flag bearer of this projecSri Lanka Red Cross Society and it is financially and technicalLy guided by Ammerican Red Cross Society. In order to implement this project five Tsunami affected districts were selected, One of them was Gampaha District for the first phase, and another four Districts were attached for the second phase

In the Gampaha District this project was implemented in 04 DS namely

  • Katana

for the first phase 18 GN Divisions and for the second phase seven GN Divisions were selected. In these GN Divisions 15 Schools were also selected.

The main object of this project is to educate the people on disasters and to make them prepare for them. The people who were affected by the Tsunami on 26th of December 2004 was the main target group for the implementation of this project and there are three main goals in this project which are given bellow.



  1. To increase the community capacity by limiting the threat of vulnerability and making them prepare for future disasters.



  2. To increase the scholl capacity by limiting the threat of vulnerability and making them prepare for future disasters.



  3. To increase the capacity of Branch.
